Dancing Dust

Have you seen the Dust

Tracked-in soil,

Dead debris scratched off my shoulder

White sheet, to pull over

Our heavy heavy heads

A thin layer of snow to draw our names in

— O, how they melt

Have you seen the Dust

When hit by morning's light

Through slits of a curtain?

— O, how they shine

How they dance

A sugar ballet in thin air

Fickle fickle specks that glisten

Foolishly, perchance

— O, they know full well

How they will be swept

Come Sun rests those burning crimson eyes

(it is time she slept)

Come Dust, settles on the floor like ash

And the Dust

— O, fickle as we may be

Still

Gleefully glisten.
